Dedicated Women. One Vision.
On December 25, 1981 at a gathering, the inception of a vision for a second graduate Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Chapter in the Charleston, SC area was passionately discussed. Five sincere and dedicated Sorors seriously met to further discuss the possibilities. They were Janice S. Broughton, Gail M. Blair, Cheryl B. Deas, Helen T. McKune, and Lillie B. Smith. This core group, under the direction of Regional Director Mary Shy Scott met tirelessly to accomplish the groundwork for the formation of the second graduate chapter.
